BIOGRAPHY

Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Megan McDowell started her love for music at the early age of 6. Her mother, a classical trained pianist, highly encouraged music development throughout Megan’s early impressionable years with countless hours of Piano, Violin and Saxophone lessons. During her teenage years she listened to everything from Rock, New Wave, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, Rap and Reggae. Then in the early 90’s she was introduced to House music.

While finishing her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, Megan began frequenting local record shops and trading mixtapes with friends in San Francisco. Soon enough, she bought herself a mixer and pair of turntables. After graduation in 1997, she moved back to San Francisco and began working at Zebra Records on Haight street. She got her first residency at Backflip (now Bambuddha Lounge) with Franky Boissy and Mauricio Aviles (Naked Music, Loveslap). Soon enough Megan became part of the Stompy family and starting playing at multiple club venues and parties all over the city including Sunset, Stompy, Green Gorilla, Endup, Club Six, The Top, Liquid (now Pink) and more. You can also catch her DJ'ing for various Art, Fashion and Fitness events such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Benefit Cosmetics, The Artist Xchange and Crunch Fitness. She is continuously digging through the crates and backstock of SF's finest record stores and carefully selects hard to find quirky records from all over the globe. Her unique style of deep and funky tech house creates a positive moody vibe that gets people moving on the dancefloor.

In 2002, Megan decided she wanted to produce records so she went back to school to hone in on her audio engineering skills and got her sound engineering degree. After graduating, she starting working with DJ Rasoul and Dmitri COA and soon released her first track entitled "2night" on COA Records.

In 2005 Megan established her own record label and has been producing and engineering tracks under the name Megadank 4200. This past year she's signed tracks to Los Angeles based label Deepfunk Records, Atlanta/SF based Uncut Records, SF based COA records, Slap Box and AllHouseMusic.com.
