| Hands down, this is the best DJ compilation I've heard all year. Shejays, it's gonna be hard to beat! Ok, yes I am a huge house fan. I love DJ Heather. I love Colette. But really, they've totally outdone themselves. I could throw their mixes on at any party and I'm sure the crowd would be bumping!
Colette's mix is the first in this two-CD set. She starts off groovey with Home & Garden's "All the Same" and then busts in with the chunky, tech house beats at song #6, Del Costa and Pedro Goya's "#37." No Assembly's "Digital Beatbox" and Lance Desardi's mix of the Greenskeepers tune,"Man in the House" shine on this mix with their fat, dark, heavier beats. Colette accentuates the entire mix with overlays of her own lyrics. In fact, her vocals over Wawa's "No Problem" sound like they had always been there. I have the original record though. I kinda wish they did have her vocals! Of course, she includes her recent hit, "Dmttyo," a cover of Robert Palmer's classic "Didn't Mean to Turn You On." She finishes off on a soft note with her own "Feelin' Hypnotized," the Blackliquid Remix.
DJ Heather takes on disc two. This Chicago DJ is really one of the most talented DJs, female or male, out there. Her funky, chuggin' house captures the spirit of the Chicago house music scene. It's fun. It's funky. It makes you wanna shake your booty. She messes with every song's EQs and adds her own flavor. From beginning to end, I am shaking my hips and bopping my head. She includes a new mix of Mark Farina's "To Do." No Assembly makes an appearance on her mix as well with "Step Your Game Up." It's horns and vocals show the signs of a house classic to come. She ends with Deemah's "Words." The listener is left begging for more!
As a female DJ, I highly recommend this mix to all you Shejays out there!
